Madhat may be know to some as a dark (see horrorcore ) emcee for his work within the group Dark Rumors, but on Unvarnished Scribbles he uses his microphone time wisely to flip the script and highlight a wide range of topics and issues, such as; 21st century living, friendships gained and lost, prostitution, and a love and passion for Hip Hop and his home town of Edinburgh. All the while displaying dexterous ever changing dynamic rhyme patterns over complimentary beats and rhythms courtesy of some of the best Hip Hop producers Scotland has to offer.
Madhat chooses to brings a wide variety of talent to the album, and not only features guest vocals from established emcees such as the Freestyle Master and StoneztheRiddlah, but also shines the spotlight on new talent such as Dandy, Holmesand Ian Halliday.
Unvarnished Scribbles brings us undoubtedly a unique and fresh outlook on Hip Hop and life in 21st Century Scotland. Its 18 tracks provide us with a fine introduction to a future rap legend.
An Auld Reekie classic.
