“Hungry” is the best word to describe Powercut Productions’ youngest member Cad.
Equipped with a drive to succeed and lyrics beyond his years, Cad has already made an impact on the scene with his abilities to rhyme. Thanks to underground hip hop shows and local street battles, this highly rated addition to Powercut Productions’ roster has quickly gathered accolade from the more veteran players in the game. His authentic style caught the imagination of rap fans and other mc's in the scene, giving him a fan base on which this charismatic rapper is sure to build upon. Now it's time for the rest of the world to find out why Cad has already triggered a buzz of excitement amongst the UK's underground Hip Hop network.
“For the past few years, I’ve been learning my craft and watching how Steg G and Freestyle Master do shit behind the scenes. Powercut took me under their wing when I was about 14 or 15, and to get a call from a label which inspired me definitely gave me confidence to build on what I was already planning.”
Cad has been a guest artist on Powercut releases "Clyde Built" LP and the innovative "Different Planet, Same Shit" LP. Powercut Productions decided that investment in the gifted rapper is imminent and have pencilled in a release towards the end of 2006. Production will be overseen by the highly regarded "Steg G" and is sure to have a host of guest artists from throughout the UK and the USA.
"I’m a realist , I believe that whatever you put into something, you’ll receive back, so if I put 100% effort into my songs and lyrics then I expect to have a quality product, if I do that and I’m satisfied then I know the person listening to my shit is listening to something which has depth and character. I’ve worked real hard to get my skills to the level they’re at, now I’m ready to put out material and show people what I’m about.”
When Cad dropped "The Problem Child" EP into the UK Hip Hop world he expected nothing other than some feedback from underground fans. However, it managed to capture the attention of one of the UK's leading independent rap labels, creating opportunities to guest on album projects and perform on stage alongside some of rap’s biggest names including 50 Cent, M.O.P, Mobb Deep, Lloyd Banks and more. All this achieved by the age of 16 and on the strength of one underground release tells us that the future for this young rapper is looking exceptional.
“The Badlands” EP is scheduled for release in October 2006.
